Whale TechNairobi
From our own audit

What we found in your trade

We tested 23 wrought iron workshops and 32 aluminium fabricators in Nairobi. Four had a working website. Not four in ten — four out of 55. Forty-eight had no site at all.

51of the 55 metal fabricators we tested in Nairobi had no working website.
3had paid for a site and then let the domain expire. The link is dead right now.
48had no website at all — a phone number and a directory listing, nothing more.

These numbers come from the Nairobi Web Audit — 566 businesses tested in August 2026, method and limitations published in full. We don’t name the businesses.

Why it matters for metal fabricators

This work is chosen by eye

Nobody orders a gate from a description. They want to see the pattern, the finish and the proportions against a house like theirs. A photo gallery is not decoration for this trade, it is the product catalogue.

You are competing on a roadside sign

Most fabrication work is still won by whoever the customer drives past. A website extends that same shop frontage to everyone searching from home, including the ones who never drive down your road.

Nobody else in your trade is there

When 51 of 55 competitors have nothing, the first workshop with a decent gallery does not join a crowded market. It is effectively alone in it.

What your site actually needs

Not a brochure. The specific things a customer in this trade looks for before they get in touch.

  • A gallery by product: gates, grills, staircases, windows
  • Finishes and materials you actually offer
  • Rough pricing by size where you can give it
  • Measurement and installation explained
  • A way to send a photo of the opening and get a quote

Prices are the same as everywhere else on this site — KES 25,000, 45,000 or 75,000 to build, then a small monthly amount that keeps it online. The domain is registered in your name, not ours.

Questions

Things people ask before they hire us

I sell from the workshop. Would a website really bring work?

It brings the customers who are not driving past. People building or renovating research gates and windows online for weeks before ordering. Right now, in Nairobi, almost none of them can find a fabricator that way — which is the opportunity.

Can customers send measurements for a quote?

Yes. The quote button opens WhatsApp with the product and size prompts already written, so a customer can send a photo of the opening and the rough dimensions in one message.

I make both gates and aluminium windows. One site?

One site, separate sections. They are bought by different people at different stages of a build, so each gets its own pages and its own gallery rather than being mixed together.

What would it cost?

KES 25,000 gets a workshop online with a gallery and a quote button. KES 45,000 splits the product ranges properly and is the better fit if you do both fabrication and aluminium. Then from KES 3,000 a month.
